The most challenging project for me was the animal head. It was hard to get the lines right and make it smooth. Also to make the eye shapes the same size. Another hard decision was to decide to glaze it or water color. dolphins are shiny and have a grey color. Plus I wanted to color the bottom which help me make the decision to glaze the project.
If I was to come up with another project or lesson I would make a whole lesson about 3D art with candy to make images. Example would be you could buy skittles or students bring in the candy of their choice. Then students would find an image of their choosing and map out what candy goes where. Then they can glue the candy on to a piece of cardboard. Then start the arting.
What I got out of this class was how to use clay and make pictures out of clay. It really taught me how to use different tools to make pieces of art. Also I learned that art can have different depths. For example we did cardboard carvings and book carvings. We had to make the faraway objects farther in real life. I get to take away from this class the experience of using clay and other styles of arting. Overall I loved all of the projects/mini lessons. They made me a better artist today.

This is my final project. It is a functional peice for example I can put keys, jewelry, phone while it's charging. I wanted to be finished with it so I used water color. I like the piece and the coloring looks cool. But I wish I could have glazed it and make it more functional, but I don't want to come back to finish it. It looks like an egg which looks cool. Also I want the sides more straight up and down, but over all I'm happy with my final. This is my final dwelling. I am very happy with it and excited that I choose this peice to display. It is made of: Mirror pieces, wood, dry wall, ply wood, credit cards, fabric, some fake flowers, a copper tube thing, popcicle sticks, this orange plastic material, clear plastic window stuff, and blue and yellow plastic film. It is successful because it is a dwelling and works as a house. I think I should have planned the measurements more carefully and added the wire with leves. It was really hard to put it together, but I'm really happy how it all came together. This is my final lidded vessel. I came up with the idea of miso soup. I'm really happy on how it turned out. I used a plaster mold to make the bowl. I then made a lid with tofu and a spoon sticking out as the handle. I then keep the colors simple because that's how the bowls actually look. Then I used watercolor for the soup part. The lid goes over the bowl. I think it was successful because it can actually be used. I wish I did the lid better because it kindof wobbles on top of the bowl. These are my stamps. I just made random lines with shapes because I didn't really know what to do. I didn't glaze or color them. I they are successful because they can be used as actual stamps. I wish I had came up with different shapes but that's alright These are my mini lidded vessels. I made them by using a cork screw and rolling the clay around the cork to get the shape. I then made bottoms and lids. I made three different lids a locking lid, a lid with a flanch, and I lid with extra clay on the inside of the lid to fit in the pot. For the color I just wanted to try new colors on the different clays. They are successful because they can be useful and the lids fit very well. I wish I paint the locking lid with more color or add water color to it. This is my alphabet burn out. I made a cup holder or a spoon holder for the kitchen. I put pasta alphabet in the clay before it dried. I fired it and the pasta will burn out and then the pasta will leave an imprint. Once fired I glazed it a tanish color trying to do a fall themed color/look. I then traced a clay leaf then painted in the tracing a dark green. I really like the peice but I think I could have made it a little more smooth and possibly bigger. It is successful because it serves it's purpose. I also love the color and how the leaf turned out. It says I believe I can. I finally finished my figure project. I used a white and black acrylic and mixed the 2 together to create a dark grey. I used all the blue water colors and mixed them in with. I love the look it came out with. I also put screen on the bottom to add more texture and something to catch the eye. Also I add some copper wire prices that I made. If I could change anything it would be to add more stairs, but I felt that if I put more stairs they might fall off. The bottom piece to hold the head I didn't want to glaze it but I liked the color it already was. Also I really like the texture of it so I didn't want to mess with that.
This is my figurative piece. It is still in progress, but I had the head and a stand. I have so many plans for after it is fired.
I learned how to mold and sculpt clay. And to make two pinch pots and put smooth them together. I also learned that when you make hollow sphere that you have to make a venting hole, so the piece won't blow up in the kiln.
This piece is successful because I created an animal head. I also loved how the watercolor worked on my price. It looks pretty great. I also painted the top a lighter color then the bottom. I wish I made it a little more smooth with less scratches, but still with some stretches left to make it more realistic. Also maybe add some teeth I knew that would take to long for me to finish the project, so I didn't want to. |
